Otago Water Taxis is a locally owned and operated business, run by husband-and-wife team Rob and Holly. We’re passionate about Otago Harbour and love sharing its beauty with both locals and visitors. Meet the team at Otago Water Taxis
Rob, the owner-operator and skipper, brings extensive experience skippering boats around Southern New Zealand. His background as a commercial paua diver gives him a deep connection to the marine environment, and he’s actively involved in biosecurity efforts to protect Southern NZ waters. Rob’s love for the water, combined with his commitment to safety and sustainability, ensures every trip is smooth, enjoyable, and environmentally responsible. His hands-on approach means he’s involved in every detail—from piloting the vessels to developing new services that showcase the best of Otago Harbour.
Holly complements the operation with her warm, friendly service and logistical expertise. She drives the shuttle van transporting passengers between the wharf, Larnach Castle, and the city, ensuring seamless connections and comfortable journeys. Holly is also a qualified massage therapist and reflexologist, bringing a caring and attentive approach that makes every passenger feel welcomed and relaxed. Together, Rob and Holly create a welcoming atmosphere that makes every passenger feel like part of the family.
Our Vessels
We operate two purpose-built vessels, each offering a safe, comfortable and scenic way to explore Otago Harbour.
The Protector
A fast and capable Rayglass Protector, this ex-Coastguard vessel is designed for both performance and safety.
Powered by twin four-stroke outboard engines, it delivers a smooth ride even in open water.
With its rugged design and stability, The Protector is perfect for fast transfers, harbour tours, and coastal charters.
Adagio
Adagio is a spacious and comfortable Seamaster 1100, ideal for relaxed scenic cruises.
With a covered deck, heated cabin, onboard toilet, and flybridge for enhanced viewing, it's well suited to wildlife tours and longer journeys.
Twin jet units ensure both power and shallow-water maneuverability, while full safety equipment is always on board for your peace of mind.
