FAQS

What should I wear and bring for the boat tour?

We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Layers are a good idea, as temperatures can change on the water. Don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection. Flat, closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles are essential for safety. Additionally, bring a camera or smartphone to capture the incredible sights, and if you're prone to motion sickness, consider taking a preventative remedy before boarding.

Is the boat tour suitable for children and families?

Absolutely! Our boat tours are designed to be family-friendly and enjoyable for all ages. We offer a range of experiences suitable for kids and adults alike. Our knowledgeable guides provide engaging and educational commentary that can captivate young minds, and our boats are equipped with safety features to ensure a secure and comfortable journey for everyone. Whether you're a family of nature enthusiasts or just looking for a fun day out, we welcome families aboard with open arms.

Are your boat tours accessible for individuals with mobility challenges?

We strive to make our boat tours as accessible as possible. Please let us know about any specific mobility requirements when booking, and we'll do our best to accommodate them. Our crew is trained to assist passengers with mobility challenges, however there is a 20cm drop down on to the boat which limits wheelchair accessibility.

Do you have restroom facilities on board.

Yes we have restroom facilities and some boarding and embarking locations have public toilets nearby.

What others are saying

"Highly Recommended"

"We had a port stop in Dunedin during a cruise in late 2023, and I wanted to book a local tour company (rather than rely on the shore excursions provided by the cruise line). Otago Water Taxis did not disappoint. We went for the Larnach Castle & Wildlife Cruise, and Rob and Holly were amazing guides. Knowledgeable and well-organised!"

"Pleasure To Deal With"

"We used Rob’s water taxi service from Dunedin to Port Chalmers and back again for my Dad’s 70th birthday celebrations. Rob was a pleasure to deal with - his communications were easy and prompt, he was super friendly and the trip on the water taxi was fun for all onboard. We would definitely book with Rob again!"

Charlotte Hurley

"Great Service"

"We recently completed a trip from Portobello to Quarantine Island. Rob collected us, our two e-bikes and a child bike trailer with no hassle. His boat is well set up, really comfortable with plenty of room for sightseeing. The bikes were secure on a rack and were easily lifted on and off the jetty at Quarantine Island"
